Krone V12 Liebherr Self Propelled Forage Harvester

Krone launch TWO new high end self-propelled forage harvesters for 2023 season, the Big X 980 (976hp) and Big X 1080 ( 1,074hp)

These two forage harvesters will be powered by a Liebherr V12 engine in a direct response to farmer / agri contractor demands for greater horsepower (900 HP +) in the field.  These new self-propelled foragers fill the power gap behind Krone’s flagship Big X 1180, launched in 2018.

Both these new models share much of their big brother’s technology including six pre-compression rollers, the chopping drum, OptiMaxx 305 CornConditioner and VariStream.

There are some technological advancements of note;

Modified PowerSplit

A modified ‘PowerSplit’ allows the operator fingertip control of available engine power in varying working conditions.   ‘PowerSplit’ engages a fuel-saving eco-power mode when full engine power is not needed.  Alternatively, X-Power can be automatically selected when maximum engine power is required.   This engine speed management facility will ultimately optimise fuel consumption in the field.

VariLOC

‘VariLOC’ is a gearbox inside the pulley that drives the chopping drum, allowing the drum speed to be reduced from 1250 to 800rpm.  This will allow the operator to increase cut lengths by as much as 50%.

Big X 980 / Big X 1080 Optional Extras

  • High-lift cab
  • XtraPower; additional engine power into the machine to be booked online for a limited period. There is XtraPower 100 – Big X 980 and the Big X 1080 / XtraPower 200  Big X 980.
