The solar-powered ‘FarmDroid’ FD20 is set to debut at this month’s National Ploughing Championship / World Ploughing Contest in Ratheniska, Co. Laois.
The ‘FarmDroid’ is a danish invention in 2018 by two Danish brothers, Jens and Kristian Warming and 300 units have been sold globally to date.
The ‘FarmDroid’ FD20 is a solar powered seeding and weeding robot which precisely marks seed distribution using GPS technology. It is also capable of performing mechanical, non-chemical weed control both between and in-the-row.
The CO2 neutral ‘FarmDroid’ FD20 can operate for up to 24 hrs in the field, thanks to a battery pack powered by four roof mounted solar panels.
This technological innovation will be distributed solely by IAM Agricultural Machinery both in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
“FarmDroid is the first truly commercial autonomous robot operating on farms around the world and we are delighted to partner with them,” – Pat Kenny, Sales & Business Development Director @ IAM Agricultural Machinery.
